Claire Wong

Biography

Claire is originally from Edinburgh and completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Edinburgh in medicinal and biological chemistry. During her undergraduate, she spent a year in industry working at Almac (Northern Ireland) in the process development of small molecule APIs.

Following this, she spent a year in working as an associate scientist in the Alessio Cuilli-Boehringer Ingleheim (ACBI) collaboration at the Centre for Targeted Protein Degradation (University of Dundee). During this year, Claire worked on the synthesis of PROTACs for the degradation of cancer proteins and gained experience working in drug discovery.

Her research interests are now focused on developing miniature DNA binders as enzyme-like catalysts to track and tag cancer biomarkers. Outside of work, she enjoy travelling, swimming and playing badminton.
